The Institute for Spirituality and Health at the TMC Adds Two Full-Time Staff Positions to Address Growing Needs of Healthcare Professionals, Faith Homes, Community Organizations, and Individuals
NEWS RELEASE
HOUSTON, Texas (Sept. 17, 2025) – The Institute for Spirituality and Health at the Texas Medical Center is adding two new, full-time staff positions to address the growing needs of healthcare professionals, faith homes, community organizations, and individuals.
The Institute, a founding member of the Texas Medical Center, is accepting applications for a director of development. The addition of this important role reflects the expansion of its Centers of Excellence and celebrates its seven decades of community leadership. The addition of these two positions directly enables the Institute to deliver upon its mission.
Additionally, the Institute is hiring a program administrator who will support the Institute’s Cities for Better Health initiative, which is a key program of the Institute’s Center for Faith and Public Health. These positions will be based in Houston.
The Institute’s Center for Faith and Public Health partners with faith-based communities and public health systems to provide education and access to resources to help adults and children overcome barriers to achieving optimum health. The anchor program of this center is Cities for Better Health-Houston, which is part of a global initiative orchestrated by Novo Nordisk to provide support for people living with diabetes.
“The Institute is committed to supporting the spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical needs of the community. We are honored to host conferences for healthcare professionals, spiritual care volunteer training, community health programs, and weekly support groups for grief, stress relief, and resilience-building. As these programs expand and the Institute grows, we need to increase our human and financial resources to accommodate the individuals and groups that we serve,” commented Stuart Nelson, president and chief executive officer of the Institute.
The individual hired for the director of development role will be responsible for implementing a sustainable fundraising strategy, including capital campaigns and special events.
Candidates for the Cities for Better Health program administrator will have experience in project management, with a focus on healthcare, chronic disease management, or public health programs.
