Letter from the President and CEO May 2024

Dear Reader,

Springtime brings us a sense of renewal. This season reminds us that no matter how sorrowful, wounded, or broken we feel, there remains the persistent possibility that we will overcome life's inevitable difficulties.

This is the spirit the Institute brings to its programs. Whether we are working with clients of The Women’s Home who are overcoming deep spiritual woundedness, US combat veterans who participate in our ongoing collaboration with Impact A Hero, or those in our bereavement groups who have recently lost a loved one – we carry with us the enduring belief in the power of the human spirit to bring a sense of renewal and transformation.

Notably, the more we experience renewal, the more resilient we become. With patience and intention, it is possible to emerge from difficult situations with a sense of fortitude rather than overwhelm. Importantly, we carry many of the skills we need to do so within us—this is part of our innate capacity as human beings—the capacity to breathe, to experience and express our emotions, to move, to create…

As we journey through the spring season, ask yourself – Where do you find renewal? What gives you hope? How do you cultivate resilience?

Warmly,
Stuart
