Begin your journey to becoming a nationally certified yoga teacher! This is a significant step, so it's important to choose the right teacher and certification program. Our Yoga Teacher Training and National Certification Courses are registered with the National Association of Certified Yoga Teachers and Yoga Alliance for both 200-hour and 300-hour programs. These comprehensive courses are designed to help turn your passion for yoga into a career, whether full- or part-time. They cover what to teach and how to teach, using a proven 42-week/51-year model that spans beginner to advanced levels and is compatible with all styles of hatha yoga. Additionally, the courses include important but often overlooked aspects of running a yoga business.
Meet Your Instructor: Farida Meguid
Farida Meguid is a yoga and wellness educator whose work brings together contemplative practice, integrative health, and community connection. With degrees in Psychology and Political Science, she has been teaching yoga since 2001 and draws from over two decades of interdisciplinary study across yoga, Pilates, Gyrotonic, mindful movement traditions, meditation, and sound healing.
Farida has worked closely with Lex Gillan, the founder of The Yoga Institute, since 2017. As the Director of The Yoga Institute at The Institute for Spirituality and Health, she continues to lead the teacher training program, which emphasizes alignment-based teaching, embodied awareness, and meditation. Her approach blends classical yoga philosophy with modern evidence-informed practices, supporting students in cultivating depth, clarity, and authenticity in their teaching and personal practice.
Farida’s teaching experience spans Houston’s private and public schools, studios, international retreats, and underserved financial communities, where she brings accessible yoga education to children and adults. In clinical settings, Farida provides movement and sound therapy at leading health institutes and recovery centers, supporting individuals navigating mental health challenges, substance-use recovery, and medical rehabilitation. She also leads Houston’s Discovery Green community yoga class, one of the city’s longest-running and most inclusive public yoga programs, serving up to 275 participants weekly.
Her work in movement and sound therapy has been featured on local television networks, including WB39 and NBC Channel 2, and highlighted in Houston community publications for her leadership in integrative and inclusive wellness education. Farida’s teaching continues to inspire students to embody yoga as a path of awareness, service, and holistic well-being.
Who Should Attend?
The Yoga Teacher Training and National Certification Course is for students at all levels and for new and experienced teachers of all traditions. No teaching experience is required. Most students/teachers develop an interest in becoming certified for four reasons:
To deepen one's own practice
To shift paradigms and see the art of yoga from a teacher's perspective.
To teach full or part-time and offer classes in a variety of venues.
To own a yoga studio and teach classes full-time for right livelihood.
What style of Yoga will be taught?
The teaching styles of hatha and raja yoga are eclectic and non-dogmatic, compatible with all styles of yoga, regardless of lineage, i.e., Vinyasa, Iyengar, Sivananda, Kripalu, Bikram, Integral, Ashtanga, Power, Hot, Kundalini, or any of the 50-plus styles now being taught globally.
What are the course objectives?
A comfort level will be reached in every facet of teaching yoga. Students/teachers will learn step by step:
How to teach a complete yoga course (beginner to advanced) drawn from ancient yogic traditions.
How to develop the knowledge, skill, and confidence one needs to become a yoga teacher.
How to identify and cultivate one's own teaching style.
The Business of Yoga.
How to find work in the yoga community.
National certification will be awarded upon successful completion of the course.
