Farida Meguid is a yoga and wellness educator whose work brings together contemplative practice, integrative health, and community connection. With degrees in Psychology and Political Science, she has been teaching yoga since 2001 and draws from over two decades of interdisciplinary study across yoga, Pilates, Gyrotonic, mindful movement traditions, meditation, and sound healing.

Farida has worked closely with Lex Gillan, the founder of The Yoga Institute, since 2017. As the Director of The Yoga Institute at The Institute for Spirituality and Health, she continues to lead the teacher training program, which emphasizes alignment-based teaching, embodied awareness, and meditation. Her approach blends classical yoga philosophy with modern evidence-informed practices, supporting students in cultivating depth, clarity, and authenticity in their teaching and personal practice.

Farida’s teaching experience spans Houston’s private and public schools, studios, international retreats, and underserved financial communities, where she brings accessible yoga education to children and adults. In clinical settings, Farida provides movement and sound therapy at leading health institutes and recovery centers, supporting individuals navigating mental health challenges, substance-use recovery, and medical rehabilitation. She also leads Houston’s Discovery Green community yoga class, one of the city’s longest-running and most inclusive public yoga programs, serving up to 275 participants weekly.

Her work in movement and sound therapy has been featured on local television networks, including WB39 and NBC Channel 2, and highlighted in Houston community publications for her leadership in integrative and inclusive wellness education. Farida’s teaching continues to inspire students to embody yoga as a path of awareness, service, and holistic well-being
